SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Tournament MVP Shaune Taylor scored 14 points to lead Belmont Abbey to an 81-64 win over Shepherd College in the championship game of the Clarion Hotel Tipoff Tournament at the Butcher Athletic Center.
Dorian Sims (Reading Central Catholic/Reading, PA) scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Rams. Mark Jennings (North County (HCC)/Glen Burnie, MD) added 13 points and a team-high five rebounds, while Ross Mitchell (York/Yorktown, VA) chipped in with 11 points.
Robbie McKinlay added 12 points and John Gordon grabbed a game-high nine rebounds for the Crusaders.
Shepherd falls to 1-1, while Belmont Abbey improves to 2-0. The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they host Shippensburg University at 8:00 p.m.
