SHEPHERD FALLS TO A-B IN DOUBLE OVERTIME

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Kevyn McBride scored a game-high 21 points, including two clutch free throws in the game's final moments, to lead Alderson-Broaddus to a 70-66 double overtime win over Shepherd in WVIAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Athletic Center.

Demond Tapscott (Fauquier/ Warrenton, VA) and Keith Davis (Berkeley Springs (Mercersburg Academy)/Berkeley Springs, WV) each scored 20 points to lead Shepherd. Ryan Jones (Banneker/ Washington, DC) added a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Tapscott drained a three-pointer with 29 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 55-55 and force overtime. Phil Stewart (The Heights School/New Carrollton, MD) hit a pair of free throws with 25 seconds remaining in the first overtime session to knot the game at 64-64 and force another overtime period. McBride's two free throws with 41 seconds left in the second overtime gave A-B a 68-66 advantage. Rudy Wallace connected on 2-of-4 free throws down the stretch to give the Battlers the hard-fought 70-66 win.

Wallace added 16 points for Alderson-Broaddus, while Josh Allen had 13 points and 14 rebounds.

The Rams fall to 5-7, 3-3 in conference action, while Alderson-Broaddus improves to 6-4, 4-1. Shepherd returns to action on Thursday to when they travel to WVU-Tech for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
