(FAIRMONT, WV) -- Redshirt-freshman quarterback Dan Chlebowski (Greencastle, PA/Greencastle-Antrim HS) completed 18-of-31 passes for 169 yards and three touchdowns to lead Shepherd College to a 28-0 win over Fairmont State College in WVIAC football action at Duvall-Rosier Field.
Shepherd took a 7-0 lead when Travis Lynch (Ridgeley, WV/Frankfort HS) scored on a five-yard run with 6:44 left in the first quarter.
The Ram extended their lead to 14-0 when Chlebowski connected with Leonard Ferguson (Baltimore, MD/Valley Forge) on a 16-yard scoring strike with 8:15 left in the second quarter to cap a 13-play, 80-yard drive.
Shepherd took a 28-0 lead into halftime with a pair of scoring passes to Jesse Correll (Port Republic, MD/Calvert HS) of 11 and 40 yards in the final 1:10 of the half. Correll finished the day with four receptions for 73 yards.
Junior running back Alex Herbert (Monrovia, MD/Urbana HS) led all rushers with 86 yards on 16 carries. Lynch added 59 yards on 17 rushes.
The Shepherd defense gave a strong performance with a shutout effort. The Rams limited the Falcons to a paltry 38 yards rushing.
Senior strong safety Dan Winning (Culpeper, VA/Culpeper HS) and redshirt freshman linebacker Dante McKoy (Stafford, VA/ North Stafford HS) led the Rams with 10 tackles each.
The Ram secondary recorded a pair of interceptions with senior free safety Matt Meadows (Romney, WV/Hampshire HS) and junior cornerback Ron Frazier (Gaithersburg, MD/Gaithersburg HS) each picking off a pass.
Senior defensive lineman Jason Morris (Walkersville, MD/Walkersville HS) led the Rams with two sacks for minus 18 yards and also forced a fumble.
Pat Morrison completed 11-of-30 yards for 134 yards for Fairmont. Jo Jo Parker rushed for 48 yards on 13 carries to pace the Falcon ground game.
Corey Hoppe recorded 10 tackles and an interception to lead the Fairmont defense.
Shepherd improves to 1-3 overall, 1-0 in WVIAC action, while Fairmont State falls to 1-3, 0-1. The Rams return to action next Saturday when they host West Virginia State at 1:00 p.m. at Ram Stadium for Homecoming.
