(FAIRMONT, WV) -- Junior quarterback Joel Gordon (Waynesboro/ Waynesboro, VA) connected with senior wide receiver Jason Dirting (Martinsburg/ Martinsburg, WV) on a 25-yard touchdown pass in overtime to lift Shepherd College to a 30-24 win over Fairmont State in WVIAC football action on Saturday at Duvall-Rosier Field.

Gordon completed 17-of-34 passes for 314 yards and three touchdowns. Dirting led the Ram receivers with seven receptions for 119 yards. Junior running back Travis Lynch (Frankfort/Ridgeley, WV) led the ground game with 78 yards on 19 carries.

The Shepherd defense was led by freshman outside linebacker Ron Frazier (Gaithersburg/Gaithersburg, MD) and sophomore defensive back Matt Meadows (Hampshire/Romney, WV) .

Frazier and Meadows each recorded 11 tackles, and Meadows also added an interception. Sophomore linebacker Dan Winning (Culpeper/ Culpeper, VA) added 10 tackles, two sacks, and two pass breakups.

Shepherd improves to 5-0, 2-0 in conference play, while Fairmont falls to 1-3, 0-2.

The Rams will host West Virginia State for Homecoming next Saturday at Ram Stadium in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
