 SHEPHERD'S SCHMITT GAINS NATIONAL HONORS SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV -- Junior punter/kicker Ricky Schmitt (Virginia Beach, VA/Salem HS) of the Shepherd University football team was named NCAA II Tri-Special Teams Player of the Week by Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette. Schmitt helped Shepherd hold a dominant field position edge during a 48-21 win over Concord. He averaged 48.0 yards per punt on five kicks and placed two inside the five-yard line. Four of his kickoffs also resulted in touchbacks. In addition, Schmitt booted 6-of-6 extra points and made field goals of 22 and 32 yards. |
