SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. - Shepherd University head football coach Monte Cater recently announced changes to the Ram football staff. Tom Rogish has been hired as linebackers coach. He replaces Shawn Rohrer who accepted a similar position on the California (Pa.) University football staff.
Rogish comes to Shepherd after coaching at Indiana (Pa.) University since 1986. A 1973 graduate of IUP, Rogish was an All-American linebacker for the Indians.
Rogish held a number of coaching responsibilities at IUP, including defensive coordinator and associate head coach. As defensive coordinator, his 1991 team was ranked second in the nation in total and scoring defense and third in rushing defense. The Indians were fourth in scoring defense in 1990 under Rogish.
Rogish spent five years at Juniata before moving on to Lehigh where he served as linebackers coach for two seasons. He became head coach at Southern Huntingdon (PA) High School before joining the IUP staff in 1986.
Rohrer spent three seasons on the Shepherd staff. He began as defensive line coach in 2003 before moving to linebackers coach in 2004. Rohrer also served as recruiting coordinator and coached special teams for the 2005 season.
