(ATHENS, WV) -- Concord edged Shepherd, 20-19, in WVIAC football action on Saturday at Callaghan Stadium.

Shepherd gained a 7-0 lead when redshirt-freshman quarterback Dan Chlebowski (Greencastle, PA/Greencastle-Antrim HS) connected on a 29-yard scoring strike to junior wide receiver Chad Pence (Harrisonburg, WV/Turner Ashby HS) with 3:55 left in the first quarter.

The Rams increased their lead to 13-0 when sophomore Dustin Dudinski (Woodbridge, VA/Park View HS) fielded a punt at the Shepherd 15 yard line, shook off a tackler, and raced 85 yards for a touchdown with 10 seconds left in the first quarter.

Dudinski became the first Shepherd player to record touchdowns on a punt return and a kickoff return in the same season since Bootsie Washington in 1997.

Concord cut the lead to 13-6 at the half when Eric Jelks scored on a 29-yard pass from Josh Aliveto.

Shepherd extended its lead to 19-6 when junior running back Alex Herbert (Monrovia, MD/Urbana HS) scored on a five-yard run with 52 seconds left in the third quarter. Herbert rushed for a game-high 87 yards on 21 carries.

Kory Wright scored on a one-yard plunge for the Mountain Lions with 13:09 left in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 19-13.

Jelks scored on a 12-yard run and kicker Dustin Ferrell added the extra point with 5:58 left in the game to provide the margin of victory for Concord.

Chlebowski completed 14-of-29 passes for 183 yards. Correll was the team's top receiver with six receptions for 92 yards.

The Shepherd defense was led by senior strong safety Dan Winning (Culpeper, VA/Culpeper HS) with a team-high 10 tackles (six solos). He also had a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a pass breakup.

Shepherd falls to 3-6, 3-3 in conference play, while Concord improves to 3-7, 2-4.

The Rams will host WVU-Tech next Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. game. in the season finale.
