MONTGOMERY, WV -- Shepherd College split with WVU-Tech in WVIAC baseball action at Tech on Monday afternoon. The Rams took a 7-3 victory in game one, while the Golden Bears rallied past Shepherd for a 7-6 win in the nightcap.
Ram starter Mitch LeMasters (Toronto (Allegany College of Maryland)/Toronto, OH) went five innings and had five strikeouts to gain the win in game one. Austin Bowie (Loudoun Valley/Paeonian Springs, VA) worked the final two innings. Eric Hunt took the loss for the Golden Bears.
Josh Delawder (Paw Paw (Potomac State)/Paw Paw, WV) and Tavis Laws (Sherando (Eastern Mennonite)/Stephens City, VA) each had two hits to lead the Rams.
Brandon Green's two-run single in the bottom of the seventh lifted Tech to a 7-6 win in the nightcap
John Mitchell picked the win for WVU-Tech, while Bowie took the loss for the Rams.
Delawder, Laws, Charlie Drummond (Strasburg/ Strasburg, VA), and Shane Wines (Warren County/Front Royal, VA) had two hits apiece to lead the Rams in the nightcap.
Green went 3-for-4 to lead the Tech attack.
Shepherd moves to 20-16 overall, 14-6 in WVIAC play, while Tech is now 9-31, 6-16. The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Ohio Valley for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.
