SHEPHERD SPLITS WITH PRESBYTERIAN IN SEASON OPENER

CLINTON, SC -- The Shepherd College baseball team split with Presbyterian College in season opening action for the Rams. Presbyterian edged Shepherd, 10-9, in game one, while the Rams salvaged a split with an impressive 16-10 triumph in the nightcap.

Shepherd smacked 32 hits on the day, including 17 in the nightcap.

Charlie Drummond (Strasburg, VA/Strasburg HS) went 6-for-9 on the day with five runs batted in. He was 3-for-3 in the nightcap and also belted a two-run homer. Tavis Laws (Stephens City, VA/Sherando HS/Eastern Mennonite) added a 4-for-5 effort in game two.

Reliever Austin Bowie (Paeonian Springs, VA/Loudoun Valley HS) suffered the loss in game one, while Scott Koscielniak (Severn, MD/Old Mill HS/CCBC-Catonsville) picked his first win as a Ram in the nightcap.

Shepherd starts the season at 1-1, while Presbyterian moves to 3-5 on the year. The two teams return to action tomorrow with doubleheader action beginning at noon.
