SHEPHERD SWEEPS OHIO VALLEY

VIENNA, WV -- Shepherd College swept Ohio Valley in WVIAC baseball action at Ohio Valley on Tuesday afternoon. The Rams rallied past the Fighting Scots with a six-run seventh inning to gain an 11-7 win in game one and rallied again in the nightcap for a 12-9 triumph.

Charlie Drummond (Strasburg/Strasburg, VA) pitched the final two innings in game one and gained his first career victory. Ohio Valley starter Darren Graham took the loss.

Brad McCullough had a pair of doubles and drove in five runs to lead the Rams. His bloop double plated three runs to key the six-run rally in the seventh. Mike Spry (Kent County/Chestertown, MD) and Drummond each added a pair of hits, while Shane Wines (Warren County/Front Royal, VA) belted a three-run homer in the second.

Spry belted a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to lift the Rams to victory in the nightcap.

J.R. Fitzwater (Hedgesville (Potomac State)/Hedgesville, WV) picked up the win for the Rams in relief of starter Jimmy Jackson (Old Mill/Millersville, MD).

Shepherd improves to 22-16 overall, 16-6 in WVIAC play, while Ohio Valley drops to 6-32, 3-21. The Rams will conclude regular season play on Wednesday when they travel to Davis & Elkins for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.
