MOUNT OLIVE, NC -- Mount Olive College smacked 16 hits and took advantage of six Ram errors to gain a 13-6 win over Shepherd College in baseball action at Scarborough Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Craig Hurba and Carl Whittington had three hits apiece to lead the Trojans. Herbie Mulqueen, Steve Parrish, and Wayne Sager each added a pair of hits.
Jason Walck (Waynesboro/ Waynesboro, PA) and Josh Delawder (Paw Paw (Potomac State)/Paw Paw, WV) led the Rams with 3-for-5 outings. Joe Cook (Loudoun County/Leesburg, VA) and Bo Royal (William Byrd (Louisburg JC)/Vinton, VA) each added two-hit efforts. Delawder smacked a pair of doubles, while Royal's two-run double keyed a three-run rally in the ninth inning.
Mount Olive erupted for eight runs in the eighth behind six hits and four Ram errors to seal the win. Two-run doubles by Brad Church and Brian Massey highlighted the inning.
Brian Corbett (6-2) picked up the win for Trojans, while Shepherd's Brian Chevalier (0-1) suffered the loss.
Shepherd falls to 5-9, while Mount Olive improves to 23-14. Shepherd returns to action on Thursday to face Barton College at 2:00 in a single nine-inning contest.
