MOUNT OLIVE, NC -- Mount Olive starter Kevin Kolbeck scattered nine hits to lead the Trojans to a 5-3 win over Shepherd College in baseball action at Scarborough Field. The game was pushed back an hour due to rain.
The Trojans took advantage of four Ram errors en route to the win. Only two of the five runs surrendered by Ram starter Mitch LeMasters (Toronto (Allegany College)/Toronto, OH) were earned. Shepherd relievers Tony Magnanelli (Frederick/Frederick, MD) and Brad McCullough (Susquehannock/New Freedom, PA) held Mount Olive hitless over the final five innings. Magnanelli also had three strikeouts.
Herbie Mulqueen led Mount Olive at the plate with a 2-for-4 effort with two runs scored.
Charlie Drummond (Strasburg/Strasburg, VA) continued to stay hot for the Rams with a 2-for-4 performance, including a two-run homer in the sixth. Shane Wines (Warren County/Front Royal, VA) went 2-for-4 with a double.
Shepherd falls to 3-3 on the year, while Mount Olive improves to 17-10. The Rams are scheduled to return to action on Saturday in doubleheader action against Mansfield at 1:00 p.m.
