#30 MOUNT OLIVE DOWNS SHEPHERD, 12-9

MOUNT OLIVE, NC -- Steve Parrish went 4-for-4 and drove in six runs to lead 30th-ranked Mount Olive to a 12-9 win over Shepherd College in baseball action at Scarborough Field on Tuesday.

The Trojans scored single runs in the first and third to take a 2-0 lead before Shepherd rallied in the top of the fifth. The Rams took advantage of three Trojan errors to tie the game at 2-2. Eli Rock (Waynesboro, PA /Waynesboro HS) and Shane Wines (Front Royal, VA/Warren County HS) both scored courtesy of Mount Olive miscues.

Mount Olive scored five runs in the fifth and added three more in the sixth to extend its lead to 10-2. Parrish keyed both big innings with a three-run homer in the fifth and two-run shot in the sixth.

Shepherd cut the lead to 10-7 in the seventh when Charlie Drummond (Strasburg, VA/Strasburg HS) blasted a grand slam and Jon Serrano (Stafford, VA/Brooke Point HS) smashed a solo homer.

The Trojans added single runs in the seventh and eighth, while Shepherd added runs in the eighth and ninth for the 12-9 outcome.

Shepherd was led by Drummond with a 2-for-4 outing and Josh Delawder (Paw Paw, WV/Paw Paw, HS/Potomac State) with 3-for-4 effort with a pair of runs scored.

Mount Olive starter Josh Clow gained the win, while Shepherd starter Jimmy Jackson (Millersville, MD Old Mill HS) took the loss.

Shepherd falls to 2-5 while Mount Olive improves to 18-6. The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host Saginaw Valley for 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.
