RAMS SWEEP MANSFIELD

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Junior shortstop Ryan Brady (McSherrystown, PA/Delone Catholic HS/Hagerstown CC) belted a sacrifice fly that scored junior third baseman Nicky Brown (Hedgesville, WV/Hedgesville HS/ Potomac State) in the eighth inning to lift Shepherd University to an 8-7 win over Mansfield University in game one in baseball action at Fairfax Field on Tuesday. The Rams used a 13-hit attack in the nightcap en route to an 11-2 win to gain the sweep.

Junior outfielders Collin Brown (Durham, NC/Southern Durham HS/NC State), Joe Cook (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County HS), and Ryan Harju (Purcellville, VA/Loudoun Valley HS/ Hagerstown CC) had two hits apiece to lead the Ram attack in game one. Nicky Brown scored four runs and drove in a pair of runs.

J.D. Druckenmiller and D.J. Hoshauer had two hits each to lead the Mountaineers.

Sophomore reliever Todd Coder (Woodbridge, VA/Woodbridge HS) held the Mountaineers hitless in the eighth inning to gain his first win of the year. Mansfield reliever Nate Jones suffered the loss.

Collin Brown went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI to lead the Rams in the nightcap. Nicky Brown, Joe Cook, and junior catcher David Toth (Lexington, KY/Lexington Christian Academy/Potomac State) each added a pair of hits.

Sophomore pitcher Travis Mumaw (Edinburg, VA/Central HS/Potomac State) allowed only two hits in six innings to gain his first win as a Ram. Junior reliever Austin Bowie (Paeonian Springs, VA/Loudoun Valley HS) held the Mountaineers in the seventh to nail down the win. Mansfield starter Justin Ferguson took the loss.

Kevin Rollins doubled and D.J. Hoshauer homered for the only hits for Mansfield.

Shepherd improves to 9-6, while Mansfield falls to 9-7. The Rams return to action on Friday when they host Alderson-Broaddus for doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. at Fairfax Field.
