RISER GAINS WIN MARK; SHEPHERD ELIMINATES FAIRMONT, 17-5

ATHENS, W.Va. -- Shepherd University pounded out 22 hits en route to a 17-5 win over Fairmont State in WVIAC Baseball Tournament action at Anderson Field on Saturday afternoon. The win was the 361st victory for Shepherd head coach Wayne Riser. He surpasses Shepherd Hall of Famer Bob Starkey as the winningest coach in any sport in Shepherd history.

Collin Brown went 4-for-6 with a homer and a double, and three runs scored to pace the Rams. John Hawse blasted a pair of home runs and added a 3-for-6 outing.Ryan Brady and Nicky Brown also added three hits each for the Rams.

Sophomore Josh Bowers pitched three scoreless innings of relief to improve to 6-3 on the year. Fairmont starter Todd Dillon (4-1) took the loss.

Shepherd improves to 34-15, while Fairmont State completes its season at 25-30. The Rams advance to face Ohio Valley in the 7:30 p.m. game.
