SHEPHERD FALLS TO FALCONS

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State smacked 17 hits en route to a 16-5 win over Shepherd University in WVIAC baseball action at Fairmont on Sunday.

Junior outfielder Collin Brown (Durham, NC/Southern Durham HS/NC State) and freshman designated hitter Dirk Webb (Hedgesville, WV/Hedgesville HS) each had a pair of hits to pace the Rams. Webb drove in a pair of runs, while Brown scored a run and drove in another.

Ryan Lucas went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and a pair of runs scored to lead the Falcons. Patrick Griffith went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored.

Ram starter Scott Koscielniak (Severn, MD/Old Mill HS/CCBC-Catonsville) took the loss. Falcon starter Mike Patcher gained the win.

Shepherd falls to 12-14, 6-3 in conference action, while Fairmont improves to 10-16, 3-3. The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Mansfield for a 1:00 p.m. twinbill.
