SHEPHERD DROPS PAIR TO FAIRMONT

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State swept Shepherd University in WVIAC baseball action at Fairmont on Saturday. The Falcons rallied for a 12-6 win in game one and took the nightcap with an 11-3 win.

Nick Simmons went 2-for-4 a with two runs scored and Ryan Lucas scored a pair of runs to pace the Falcons in game one.

Junior catcher David Toth (Lexington, KY/Lexington Christian Academy/Potomac State) went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and junior outfielder Collin Brown (Durham, NC/Southern Durham HS/NC State) went 2-for-3 to lead Shepherd. Sophomore Steve Kozak (Harpers Ferry, WV/Jefferson HS) and junior outfielder Joe Cook (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County HS) each added a pair of hits.

Junior reliever Austin Bowie (Paeonian Springs, VA/Loudoun Valley HS) took the loss for the Rams.

Nick Pleyo drove in two runs and scored two more to lead Fairmont in the nightcap. Mike Miskanin added three runs scored.

Collin Brown went 3-for-4 to lead the Rams in the nightcap.

Ram starter Scott McCormick (Stephens City, VA/Hedgesville HS/Potomac State) took the loss.

Shepherd falls to 12-13, 6-2 in conference action, while Fairmont improves to 9-16, 2-3. The two teams return to action on Sunday for a single game at 1:00 p.m.
