RAMS CLINCH POST SEASON BERTH

ELKINS, W.Va. -- Shepherd University handed Davis & Elkins a 4-2 setback in WVIAC baseball action at Harpertown Field on Sunday afternoon. The game was called after six innings due to rain. The victory earned the Rams the right to host Salem International next Saturday in WVIAC Preliminary Round action.

Charlie Drummond (Strasburg, VA/Strasburg HS) went 2-for-3 with a double to lead the Rams. Jason Walck (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro HS) was 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Joe Cook (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County HS) was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while Jimmy Jackson (Millersville, MD/Old Mill HS) was also 1-for-3 and drove in a run. Josh Delawder (Paw Paw, WV/Paw Paw HS/Potomac State) and Shane Wines (Front Royal, VA/Warren County HS) each added a hit and scored a run for the Rams.

Brett Ripley and went 2-for-4 and Alan Barnum was 2-for-3 to lead the Senators.

Scott Koscielniak (Severn, MD/Old Mill HS/CCBC-Catonsville) worked the first four innings and improved to 6-2 on the year. Jeff Kirkpatrick (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro HS) held the Senators scoreless in the fifth, while Austin Bowie (Paeonian Springs, VA/Loudoun Valley HS) nailed down the win in the sixth to gain the save. Scott Stutler took the loss for Davis & Elkins to drop to 7-8.

Shepherd improves to 18-17, 8-7 in conference action, while Davis & Elkins falls to 16-28, 6-9. The Rams return home on Monday to host Shippensburg in a single game at 3:00 p.m. at Fairfax Field.
