RAMS SPLIT WITH DAVIS AND ELKINS

ELKINS, W.Va. -- Shepherd University split with Davis & Elkins in WVIAC baseball action at Harpertown Field on Saturday afternoon. The Rams took the opener with a 5-3 triumph, while the Senators took a 3-0 win in the nightcap.

Norris Roy (Gambrills, MD/Arundel HS/Hagerstown CC) went 3-for-3 to lead the Rams in game one. Tavis Laws (Stephens City, VA/Sherando/Eastern Mennonite) and Joe Cook (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County HS) had two hits each. Charlie Drummond (Strasburg, VA/Strasburg HS) went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in.

Mark Ruscello went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs for the Senators.

Brad McCullough (New Freedom, PA/Susquehannock HS) fanned six and allowed only one walk to gain his fourth win of the year in game one. Josh Ebersole took the loss for the Senators.

Shepherd outhit the Senators, 9-4, but the Senators took a 3-0 win in the nightcap.

Cameron Ross went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs for the Senators.

Shane Wines (Front Royal, VA/Warren County HS), Josh Delawder (Paw Paw, WV/Paw Paw HS/Potomac State), and Tavis Laws each had a pair of hits for the Rams.

Shepherd starter Steve Kozak (Harpers Ferry, WV/Jefferson HS) took the loss, while Ryan Flanigan went the distance to gain the win.

Shepherd moves to 17-17, 7-7 in conference action, while Davis & Elkins is now 16-27, 6-8. The two teams return to action on Sunday with a single game at 1:00 p.m.
