Shane Wines scored the winning run in the nighcap on a Jason Walck double in the sixth inning.

SHEPHERD SPLITS WITH DAVIS & ELKINS

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV --Jason Walck (Waynesboro, PA/ Waynesboro HS) doubled home Shane Wines (Front Royal, VA/Warren County HS) in the bottom of the sixth inning of game two to lift Shepherd to a 1-0 win over Davis & Elkins in WVIAC baseball action at Fairfax Field on Saturday. The Senators took game one with a 9-5 victory.

Shepherd starter Brad McCullough (New Freedom, PA/Susquehannock HS) scattered four hits and went the distance to even his record at 2-2. Josh Ebersole took the loss for the Senators.

Tavis Laws (Stephens City, VA/Sherando/Eastern Mennonite) and Wines each had a pair of hits to lead the Rams in the nightcap.

Mark Ruscello hit three home runs and Joe Hruska add two more to lead the Senators to a 9-5 win in game one.

Charlie Drummond (Strasburg, VA/Strasburg HS) and Laws each had two hits to pace the Rams. Wines belted a three-run homer in the sixth tie the game at 5-5, but the Senators answered back with four runs in the seventh powered by a two-run homer by Ruscello to gain the win.

Eric Lassiter went the distance to pick up the win, while Ram reliever Tony Magnanelli (Frederick, MD/ Frederick, HS) suffered the loss.

Shepherd moves to 7-7. 1-1 in conference action, while Davis & Elkins is now 8-11. 1-1. The two teams return to action on Sunday for a single nine-inning contest at 1:00 p.m.
