SHEPHERD FALLS TO BARTON

WILSON, NC --Barton College handed Shepherd College a 12-7 loss in baseball action at Fleming Stadium on Tuesday night.

Tyler Petty went 3-for-4 with four runs batted in and a pair of home runs to pace the Barton attack. Michael Kopp was 2-for-4 with four runs batted in and also hit a pair of homers.

Charlie Drummond (Strasburg, VA/Strasburg HS) led the Rams with a 2-for-3 effort with a double, a triple, and three RBIs. Jason Walck (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro HS) and Jon Serrano (Stafford, VA/Brooke Point HS) added a pair of hits. Serrano and Walck each scored two runs.

The Bulldogs used a four-run first inning and a five-run sixth to pull away for the win. Barton held only a 14-to-13 advantage in total hits. The Rams stranded 10 runners, while the Bulldogs left seven on base.

Ram starter Danny Graham (Easthampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley HS) (0-1) suffered the loss, while Jason Evans (1-0) picked up the win for Barton.

Shepherd falls to 7-9 on the season. The two teams return to action on Wednesday night with action starting at 6:00 p.m.
