BELMONT, NC -- Belmont Abbey used an 18-hit attack en route to a 16-9 win over Shepherd College in baseball action at Belmont Abbey on Tuesday afternoon.
Brett Davis and Matt Waldron each went 4-for-5 with three RBI to lead the Crusader attack. Nick Bland was 2-for-4 with three-run blast in the eighth.
Mike Spry (Kent County/Chestertown, MD) belted a pair of two-run homers to lead the Rams. Joe Cook (Loudoun County/Leesburg, VA) added a two-run blast in the sixth inning. Josh Delawder (Paw Paw (Potomac State)/Paw Paw, WV) went 3-for-5 on the day and Jason Walck (Waynesboro/ Waynesboro, PA) also added a pair of hits for the Rams, including a double.
Jaymie Russ picked up the win for Belmont Abbey, while Shepherd's Austin Bowie (Loudoun Valley/ Paeonian Springs, VA) suffered the loss.
Shepherd falls to 5-8, while Belmont Abbey improves to 13-16-1. Shepherd continues its road trip with a 3:00 p.m. contest at Mount Olive on Wednesday. The game was originally scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
