FIVE RAMS GAIN ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Five members of the Shepherd University baseball team were recently named to the 2006 All-WVIAC Baseball Team. Senior outfielder Collin Brown (Durham, NC/Southern Durham HS/NC State), senior pitchers Scott McCormick (Stephens City, VA/Sherando HS/Potomac State) and Chris Anderson (Middletown, MD/Middletown HS/Potomac State), and sophomore first baseman Dirk Webb (Hedgesville, WV/Hedgesville HS) gained first team honors, while senior outfielder Joe Cook (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County HS) was accorded second team honors.
Collin Brown, a first team selection for second straight year, led the Rams with a .479 batting average with 20 doubles, seven homers, and 39 RBIs. He set Shepherd single season marks for most times hit-by-pitch (21) and runs scored (65). Brown was also a two-time WVIAC Player of the Week selection.
McCormick posted an 8-1 record for the Rams with a 2.25 ERA. He fanned 28 while yielding only 11 walks in 60 innings.
Anderson recorded a 7-2 record for the Rams with a 2.29 ERA. He struck out 46 in 55 innings. Anderson earned WVIAC Pitcher of the Week honors earlier this season.
Webb batted .390 with a team-best 13 home runs and a school single season record 61 runs batted in. He also added 14 doubles and posted a .723 slugging percentage.
Cook batted .381 with a school single season record 23 doubles. He also added five round-trippers, 47 RBIs, and scored 55 runs. He was honored as WVIAC Player of the Week earlier this year.
The Rams finished the regular season season as WVIAC Northern Division Champions with a 33-14 overall mark, including a 16-4 conference record.
