BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Senior shortstop Mike Spry (Kent County/Chestertown, MD) of the Shepherd College baseball team gained a spot on this year's Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association All-America team.
Spry, a second team selection, is the the first Ram to gain All-American honors since Ty Hart earned second team honors in 1997. Spry led the Rams with a .450 batting average with 68 hits in 151 at-bats. He also led the team in home runs (13), runs batted in (school-record 57), and runs scored (42). Spry also added 15 doubles and a triple. He also holds Shepherd career marks for home runs (40), total bases (391), runs batted in (177), runs scored (148, tied with Adam Straskulic (1998-2001)), doubles (43, tied with Straskulic), and most games played (164).
The team was announced Monday at the NCAA Division II baseball championship in Montgomery, Ala., by the ABCA's All-America committee.
